Elicotteri militari ucraini per errore attaccano i propri soldati a Volnovaha.
L'Aviazione ucraina ha erroneamente sparato contro un posto di blocco dei propri commilitoni vicino a Volnovaha: il "fuoco amico" è costato la vita a 16 uomini riportano i media ucraini. Sul web è apparso il video dell'attacco degli elicotteri «Mi-24» nella fascia boschiva nei pressi di Volnovaha. Il video mostra come un gruppo di soldati al riparo sotto un camion dell'esercito osserva i mezzi militari ucraini distrutti. Alcune auto erano ancora fumanti.
Dopodichè sono arrivati gli elicotteri ucraini che a quanto pare non erano in contatto con i soldati a terra ed hanno inziato a bombardare il territorio.
Il fuoco è stato interrotto solo dopo che il comandante delle truppe di terra era riuscito a mettersi in contattato con il quartier generale.

Although Monsanto hasn't used non-viable seeds yet there are troubling reports in the media of its track record with farmers and gardeners. The company has a history of suing small farmers and of buying up seed companies. For the sake of your garden's health and the diversity of plant life many experts recommend that it's best to avoid GMO seeds and seeds produced by companies such as Monsanto.
Monsanto's Grip on the Seed Industry. The chemical company Monsanto was one of the first companies to develop light emitting diodes (LEDs). Less benignly it's also the company responsible for deadly chemical agents such as DDT Agent Orange and bovine growth hormone. It also produces glyphosate herbicides which were developed by a scientist at Monsanto in 1970. Glyphosate herbicides more commonly known by the brand name RoundUp kill grasses and weeds among agricultural crops. It is one of the most commonly used herbicides in the U.S. notes Allen Baler. To capitalize on it Monsanto has also produced genetically modified seeds which are developed to be able to resist RoundUp. The company owns the patent on the seeds which it has dubbed RoundUp Ready. RoundUp Ready seed varieties include corn and soy not varieties typically grown by the average home gardener. But the company's reach extends into the home gardening arena too as it purchased Seminis Inc the largest seed company at the time in 2005. At the time Bloomberg reported that Monsanto paid $1 billion in cash for the company.
Seminis is behind a number of varieties popular with home gardeners such as Celebrity tomatoes Patio tomatoes and Early Girl tomatoes. To be clear not all of the seeds produced by the Monsanto-owned company are genetically modified and Seminis doesn't sell GM seeds to home gardeners. But there are major concerns for gardeners who want to practice sustainability and who want to have some form of control over the crops they grow and the companies they support. It's still possible for gardeners to avoid the hand of Monsanto as long as they do some research when purchasing seeds. Finding Non-GMO Non-Monsanto Seeds
Allen Baler of Food4Patriots and SurvivalSeeds4Patriots explains the importance of using non-GMO seeds. "If you start with one of these non-GMO seeds you can use the offspring seeds to plant your next round of crops. In case of an long-term crisis these seeds will provide a sustainable source of food for years to come" Baler notes. Being able to save seeds lets you continue to grow a preferred crop even if the seed company that originally sold it to you discontinues it or is unable to provide it one year. The simplest way to find out if the seeds you are thinking of buying have an unsavory Monsanto connection is to call up the seed catalog or company and ask who provides the company with specific seeds according to Treehugger. If the seeds come from Seminis you know not to purchase them. You can also avoid Monsanto-owned seeds by choosing to purchase from small seed companies that are committed to protecting people from genetically modified crops and dedicated to preserving heirloom varieties. For example the Seed Saver's Exchange is a non-profit seed company that focuses on preserving heirloom varieties and sharing them with the world. The company has been working on something called participatory preservation for nearly 40 years. People who grow seeds offered by the company share them with fellow gardeners. The practice encourages diversity when it comes to plant varieties and aids gardeners in finding varieties that are naturally best suited to their region or specific conditions.
The Seed Saver's Exchange is one of the seed companies that has signed the Safe Seed Pledge. The pledge was created in 1999 by a group of 10 seed companies that were committed to non-GMO (genetically modified organism) seed. The original signers of the pledge believe that there isn't a sufficient regulatory framework for GM seed and that the seeds threaten genetic diversity as GM plants can pollinate non-GM plants. Since its creation more than 70 companies have signed the pledge.
While Monsanto might seem to have it tendrils all over the agriculture and gardening industry there are still a number of ways to steer clear of it and the seeds it produces. If you want to avoid Monsato seeds you are not alone. Some seed companies such as Johnny's Select Seed have cut ties with Seminis following the acquisition by Monsanto. According to the Jewish & Israel News source Algemeiner.com the Pope will meet Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Hussein the most senior religious figure in the Palestinian Authority who is described by Palestinian Media Watch as having "an ongoing record of vicious anti-Semitic hate speech which has been condemned internationally." The Pope will also meet with Israel's two chief rabbis according to the report. PMW said that in 2012 the Mufti preached that it is Muslim destiny to exterminate Jews as part of a Muslim holy war. On another occasion in the Al-Aqsa Mosque he said that Jews were "enemies of Allah" and in another speech he said that the souls of suicide bombers "tell us to follow in their path" Algemeiner.com reported. Mufti has also rejected Christian teachings according to PMW saying that Jesus was not a Judean but a Palestinian who preached Islam. He also called Jesus "a Palestinian par excellence" and claimed that Jesus and his mother Mary were Palestinians not Jews.

With 69 percent of Greeks espousing anti-Semitic views according to the survey Greece was on par with Saudi Arabia more anti-Semitic than Iran (56 percent) and nearly twice as anti-Semitic as Europe's second-most anti-Semitic country France (37 percent). On its surface the poll suggests that anti-Semitism is running rampant in Greece. Much of the blame goes to the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party which has found fertile ground for its extreme-right ideology in the ruins of Greece's economic crisis. In elections held Sunday for Athens mayor for example 16 percent of the vote went to Golden Dawn spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris a man notorious for beating a female political opponent during a television interview and for the large swastika tattooed on his shoulder. But both the ADL and Greece's small Jewish community caution that the reality is more nuanced than the poll numbers suggest. "There is a danger of sensationalizing it a danger of overplaying the psychological impact of the poll" Michael Salberg ADL's director of international affairs told JTA. "There needs to be real hard internal look at the data and examining what are the forces at play." For their part Greek Jewish leaders took pains to point out that despite widespread bigotry Greece hasn't seen the sort of anti-Jewish violence that has cropped up in some other European countries such as France. "Despite the poll showing high levels of anti-Semitism it must be noted that in Greece over the last four years we have not had any anti-Semitic violence against people or Jewish institutions" said Victor Eliezer the secretary general of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece. The poll gauged anti-Semitism based on whether respondents agreed with a majority of 11 statements on Jewish power loyalty money and behavior that the ADL says suggest bias. They include such statements as Jews talk too much about what happened to them during the Holocaust; Jews are more loyal to Israel than to the countries they live in; Jews think they are better than other people; Jews have too much power in the business world; and Jews have too much control over global affairs. Critics have suggested that the survey is deeply flawed because the statements are not fair indicators of real anti-Jewish bias. Of the 579 Greeks polled 85 percent said Jews had too much power in the business world 82 percent said Jews have too much power in the financial markets and 74 percent said Jews have too much influence over global affairs. The margin of error for Greece was plus or minus 4.4 percent. In Greece anti-Semitic viewpoints are aired frequently particularly the notions that Jews control the global economy and politics. In 2012 when the Golden Dawn's Kasidiaris read in Parliament from the anti-Semitic forgery "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" the reading drew no condemnation from the other lawmakers present. Nor was there public condemnation when Golden Dawn slammed the recent visit by the American Jewish Committee's executive director David Harris as a trip to ensure further "Jewish influence over Greek political issues" and safeguard the interests of "international loan sharks." Golden Dawn hasn't been alone in expressing such sentiments. Earlier this year the left-wing Syriza party's candidate for regional governor accused Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras of heading a Jewish conspiracy to visit "a new Hanukkah against the Greeks." Syriza reluctantly dropped the candidate Theodoros Karypidis. At the heart of Karypidis' theory was a move last year by Samaras to shut the allegedly corrupt Hellenic Broadcasting Authority and replace it with New Hellenic Radio and Television known by its Greek acronym NERIT. According to Karypidis NERIT is derived from the Hebrew word for candle "ner" which he links to Hanukkah. Even the mainstream political parties have long histories of using anti-Semitic tropes. "Greeks are fond of conspiracy theories as they are steeped in conspiracy on a personal level" Euthymios Tsiliopoulos a journalist and political commentator wrote on the popular current affairs website The Times of Change in the wake of the Karypidis scandal. "As so many things are conducted through under-the-table backroom deals most naturally assume that the whole world is run in this manner" he wrote. "As such there is willingness to believe that the hardships the country and its inhabitants have undergone throughout the centuries is due to the machinations of foreigners. After all it's easier to believe this than to fix the perennial ills plaguing Greek society." Still there are some signs of improvement. Samaras and his government have moved to condemn anti-Semitic expressions and launched a crackdown on Golden Dawn jailing many of its leaders. The government also has acted against Holocaust denial and runs school education programs together with the Jewish community. "From the results of the poll what is clear is that these stereotypes are very prevalent in Greek society" Eliezer said. "How do you combat these stereotypes? Only through education." The ADL's Salberg hopes the results of the poll will motivate others to act too. "Perhaps" he said "these very sobering numbers will raise questions within civil society among religious and civic leaders who don't hold those views." IDF forces responded by opening fire at points on the other side of the fence where they suspected the presence of terrorists surveying the effects of the bomb.

An IDF source noted "terror sources are manipulating the space adjacent to the fence to place explosives and to use terror against IDF forces and citizens of the state of Israel."

The attack is just the latest in a long string of explosives placed by terrorists targeting the IDF on the Gaza fence with a blast in late April causing no injuries and two more discovered and neutralized before they could cause damage in late March.

Terror activity in the Hamas-enclave of Gaza appears to slowly be on the rise since the unity deal signed with Palestinian Authority (PA) Chairman Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah faction in late April. Under Iran's Islamic law women are required to cover themselves from head to toe. "He is taking a helicopter directly from Jordan to Palestine - to Bethlehem. It's a kind of sign of recognizing Palestine" Father Jamal Khader of the Latin patriarchate in Jerusalem told AFP. The claims that his trip will begin in a "recognition of Palestine" comes amid reports from February by Rabbi Sergio Bergman a member of the Argentinian parliament and close friend of Pope Francis who said that the pope intends to define himself as the "Che Guevera of the Palestinians" and support their "struggle and rights" during his visit. It has been noted that the pope has been remarkably tight-lipped over the violent persecution of Christians in Bethlehem instead choosing to condemn alleged Jewish "price tag" vandalism. After the "mass" services the pope is to visit a nearby "refugee camp." "Knowing who he is and his sensitivity for all those who suffer I am sure that he will say something defending all those who are suffering including the Palestinians who live under occupation" Khader said. A visit to "end the occupation"

The political aspects of the visit were highlighted by Hind Khoury a former PA minister for Jerusalem affairs who said "everything will be highly charged politically."

"This visit will help us in supporting our struggle to end the longest occupation in history" said Ziyyad Bandak Abbas's adviser for Christian affairs.

Bandak noted that the pope "will have a lunch with Palestinians with families suffering from the occupation...then he will visit Dheishe refugee camp to witness the suffering of Palestinian refugees."

The fact that "the pope will begin his visit in Palestine and not Israel" as Bandak put it was meant as a slight to the Jewish state according to the PA official who added "I know that Israeli officials are not happy with this decision." "We welcome this visit and consider it as support for the Palestinian people and confirmation from the Vatican of the need to end the occupation" concluded Bandak. Israeli officials presenting 'our point of view' - on Iran. On the other hand an Israeli official speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity said "the very fact of the visit is a success" noting the Tourism Ministry had reported an anticipated 10% rise in Christian tourism over the coming year thanks to the visit.

However a great portion of the pope's time spent not under PA-controlled areas is reportedly planned to be spent in largely Arab-populated neighborhoods of eastern Jerusalem. The pope is set to meet Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at the Vatican-owned Notre Dame complex located on the "seam" between Jewish and Arab neighborhoods. In the meeting "we shall be able to explain to him from our point of view what's happening politically in the region" an Israeli official said.

The official did not specifically note that those explanations would include a counter to the narrative of "occupation" pushed so strongly by the Arab sources speaking about the visit instead saying simply "we shall explain to him the Iranian threat."

At least one Jerusalem official does not plan to greet the pope.
